Heading to Freeport May 5th for a week. I have never been there. Any recommendations from anyone that has been to Freeport. ie: Diving Shop? What else to do? Wifey doesn't dive kinds of things? Carrying gear to Bahamas with all the new regulations? Staying at the Island Seas Resort (timeshare)

Thanks,
Dave

I've been to Freeport, but only on my way to dive with Blackbeards. We mostly dove in the Bimini area. We did do a few nice dives around Freeport so the diving there is good. One of my favorite dive sites on my trip was Lucayan Caves. And there are some neat wreck dives. We did Theo's wreck. I had no trouble with clearing security or customs with any of my diving gear. I hear Port Lucaya is a nice place to stay and it is kind of in the center of things in Freeport. Have fun!

My wife and I spend 2 weeks in Freeport each fall. Usually with freinds.

We dive with Grand Bahama Scuba.
Fred and Melinda will make sure you have enjoyable and safe dives. Arrangements can be made for transportation. Call or e-mail them.

We dive as much as we can. We go into Port Lucaya for a variety of Restaurants/Bars. There is a Casino there if you're interested.

We stay at Ocean Reef Yacht Club and Resort
Grand Bahama Scuba is on site there. It's just up the road from Island Seas.

Have a Great trip!! and be sure to tell us all about it when you return!!

Another vote for Grand Bahama Scuba; they really are great people and will treat you well.

I've been 4 or 5 times, staying at an AI resort Wyndham Viva Fortuna (we own there) which has their own PADI dive shop/staff. I've heard good things about Xanadu as well.

Good luck

Here is another vote for http://www.grandbahamascuba.comGrand Bahama Scuba. Drop them a line and let them know you specifics and they will be more than happy to work with your schedule. They are located very close to Island Seas and will pick you up and drop you off when diving. I go to Freeport about 6 times a year and always dive with them. Port Lucaya is a great place for dining and some night life. For non-divers, there is horse back riding, scooter rentals, and even kayaking in the mangroves. I hope you enjoy your trip to Freeport.
