I actually worked out of He’eia Kea pier for a number of years doing Japanese introductory dives in Kane’ohe Bay.
We started out in the middle of the bay and then were shifted over towards the Marine base and Coconut Island, where the opening scene of Gilligan’s Island was filmed.
The second spot had a seaplane mooring from WWII that was still there - this was the turnaround for the dive and it was spectacularly loaded with fish.
It was a pretty good place to work for a few years, and I made a lot of money all in American Express travelers cheques endorsed in Japanese.
