Hi all
Can anyone recommend decent decompression software for use on the PC and a website to download it from.
Preferably for use with air and Nitrox and free, or is it true that you don't get anything for nothing?
Thanks in advance.

I like Gordon's dd planner - which it did take a while to work out can be ( or was last time I looked) on www.drogon.net
Others which are share-ware are vplanner, which I've used shallow, but not deep, zplanner if its still available and GAP

I had heard of GAP and V-Planner before but have used neither, so any advice on either of these or any other software that other divers could recommend would be well apreciated.
Cheers.

V-Planner is a dual phase (bubble model) program.

GAP is a classical Haldane/Buehlmann dissolved gas model, with the gradient factor hack to adjust conservatism and to generate deep stops.

NOT quite. GAP now uses Dr Weinke's RGBM modeling but it's also far from free. It's certainly not a software hack......, it's the real deal. http://www.rgbmdiving.com I don't like the user interface very much either.
I find V-planner the best "bang for the buck" as well as getting me out of the water quickly and safely. I've done about 100 deco dives in the 110' to 180' range, always feel great afterwards. The user support group on Yahoo Groups is excellent as well.

I think most will recomend V-planner its an excellent program and you always get the latest upgrades available and its simple to use

Downloaded V-Planner last night, it looks good, thanks to all for the advise.

There is a review of 8 deco softwarte packages in the latest issue of the Advanced Diver Magazine and on their website at
www.advanceddivermagazine.com
Some are free some shareware and some for $$$
All do Nx and Tx deep stops etc.. and are pretty good.

GAP 1.2, the Buhlmann dissolved gas model with gradient factors is still available as a free download..

GAP-RGBM, as you noted is far from free, but you can test drive it for 4 days to see if you want to pay US$200 to keep it.

It is interesting to see how the results from the different programs vary.
