Thursday July 9 I went on Cape Ann Divers boat to Chester Poling and Paddock Rock. Bottom temperature on Poling was 51 F (96' depth), which is reasonable this time of year. At Paddock Rock though...

Steve anchored on top of the seamount, which was only 20' deep, that being low tide. I descended down the south slope, hit thermocline about 45-50', then felt water getting warmer. At 61' my computer recorded 64 F. Had to be some freak warm current, as on Paddock Rock's north side at the same depth Kat recorded 54 F.

Visibility was about 15' at both sites.

Dove Paddock this AM w/ CAD, The warmest we got in the shallows near the mooring was 57. The temps during our dive varied btw 46 and 58 degrees. You could clearly distinguish the thermoclines visually and feel them.
