I checked out France Park's Old Kenith Stone Quarry this weekend and was fairly pleased with the trip. Its located near Logansport, IN. Max depth is only about 30' but the water was well into the 60's at depth and in the low 70s on the surface! I shed my hood and gloves for our second dive. In the morning vis was ok at about 15-20 feet. In the afternoon, however, the vis droped down to about 5-10 feet in the center and 10-15 feet around the back wall. While it is a little murky for a quarry, the fish in the place are great. Bass, Bluegill, and Crappie are plentifull. At least 2 diferent buddy groups reported seeing paddlefish. And I personally saw a catfish that was about 4' long and easily 12" in diameter! Diver's Den operates the fill station. park addmission is $1.50 and another $10 at the filll station to dive. $5-$6 for a fill. They show up around 8am, and if you get in the water early (before 11am) this makes for a very nice dive. The beach opens at 10am and vis goes down from there, but even at it's worst, it was still divable and the plentifull fish and warm water made it worth it to me.

Our local dive club goes there quite often. It's an easy place to just get wet and have fun. The paddlefish are a treat to see, but divers don't often see them. You can walk along the cliff and look down at them, but they shy away from divers.
