Today I met up with a few Froggies for a quick dive at Fort Sewall. The it was gorgeous above the surface but below not so much. I think that we had at the most 5 ft viz in one spot but it was a solid 2-3 everywhere else. We did a short 30 minute dive and hit a max depth of 28 ft. I was diving wet in a 7/5 so the balmy temp of 41 was a bit chilly. Nothing much to see due to the cruddy viz but I got to test out my new can light so I was happy. After the dive me and my buddy floated around by the steps while a few others practiced in their new dry suits.

Now if the damn viz would improve I would be one happy camper. We're going to try and give the Gloucester breakwater a shot tomorrow if anyone is interested.

Did you see any bugs?

Thanks, Lewis. Brave soul diving wet in 40's degree water temps. So excited you got to play with your new light. I can't wait for opening day to play with my new light.

Hoping vis gets better by Sat. Looking forward to hearing about Gloucester breakwater

I'm hoping the vis gets better. I'll let you know about the breakwater.

Did you see any bugs?

if I could have seen the bottom maybe :rofl3: but in all seriousness I didn't see much life besides a few hermit crabs and the like.

Keep us posted :) I will have to pass for this WE and dive next one, but I know that in cases like this, the weather is never on my side :(

I had a quick looksie near Stage Fort yesterday and the viz. didn't seem particularly nice. I would imagine that the recent flood conditions account for the turbidity. It was also choppy at Good Harbor Beach. Lots of surfers though! There were also areas when I was driving which wafted "poo' odors inside the cabin of my closed car! Ick. :eyes:

That being said there is a lot of flotsam all around. Here's a out-of-focus picture of my dog as he investigates some lobster trap flotsam @ Good Harbor.

So he the one the lobsta guys have been looking for! for steeling lobstas out of the traps... you need to turn this photo over the local crimebuster! (every dog has his day! in court !) you just cant trust a dog these days LOL

I think it's going to take a week or so for the water to clear up as all the rivers go down. I know it's still a few days left here in CT before the CT river gets back to normal.
