This was a REAL story that was in my local paper. I saw it on a web site later stating it was a fake. Well, I knew that it wasn't a fake, as I knew some of the people involved.
Snopes redeemed this story. None the less, this is why I will never golf ball dive anywhere around my neck of the woods. It is HUGE but the picture angle makes it look even bigger:

A few years ago we had a person near my house who was attacked and killed, Janie Melsek. Turns out that not only was that gator one of the bigger ones in the area but unknown to me at the time it was the mom of a friend who I spent the majority of my grade/middle/high 0school years going to school with. Common place stuff and one of the reasons you don't see me in the local holes here really..
 
Man Cbulla, that sucks!
I can't imagine being taken into the water by an alligator.
