On my final OW checkout dive at Monterey's Breakwater on Sunday, I broke a buckle while donning my Cressi-Sub Rondines.

My instructor gave me his Force Fin Pros to use.

He's an evil, evil man. I was able to don them in the surf like a pro in mere seconds. No fumbling and stumbling. Then, I led the entire dive with consumate ease. It didn't feel like I even had fins on, but my instructor (a large, powerful, experienced diver) reported afterwards that he'd had a bit of a problem keeping up with me. I thought that I'd been taking it rather easy, not wanting to burn through all my air so quickly.

Of course, I was FORCED to buy my own pair right then and there. Looks be damned! They work great.

Welcome to the darkside!! Wait until you use them in current.
Those who like them like them alot...:14:

Hi All,

Great thread on Force Fins. I find it very informative. If I may, I'd like to share a pair of Force Fins that I bought from Craigslist in LA for $30. It's still being shipped out to me so I don't have it yet. But I do have a picture of it. The guy said it's for float tube fishing. I plan on using it for SCUBA. From the looks of this picture, can anyone tell me what type of FF this is and if it is designed for Float tube fishing, do you think it can be used for SCUBA.

Thank you,

Jeff

I can't see the picture, but if it has an adjustable foot pocket its either the float tube fin or the adjustable force fin. both are based on the original, just that the Float tube fins have very large foot pockets that are meant to fit wader boots into. A large drysuit boot should be fine, but you might have fitment issues getting them small enough to fit a thin neoprene bootie. I hope they work out well for you, $30 is a great price.

Hi all,

The FF I found on craigslist is the pro fin. The fellow I got it from had it for a while and never used it. He was going to use it float tube fishing, but never needed it because he already had a pair to use. So, he unloaded it to me for $20 bucks and shipped it to me for an additional $10 bucks.

Anyways, about the fin. I used it for the first time last night on a dive in La Jolla off Casa Cove, south of Childrens Pool. I was really skeptical at first with this little short and stubby fin knowingly I had to battle rough chop, rough surf, and a current. To my surprise I was more than able to handle all the conditions. I just kicked through all of it and got to go where I needed to go. Actually FF works and I am one happy camper.

I actually found this surprise too.

Thanks,

Jeff

that's a great looking bug you found there. I miss the days when I used to pull them up. Glad to hear that you like the fins, I loved mine and although I use some other ones, I miss my Pro's, gonna have to get another pair soon. Guess that's what happens when you let people borrow them.

Hey Jeff ...I'm guessing your Force Fins had those bungee heel straps on them when you bought them. But, do you know where the original owner got them and what brand they are. Been thinking of replacing my webbing straps with the shock cord style.

Do me a favor and PM me the anser.

Thanks in advance.

MJ

Hi all,

If anyone can chime in and tell me why the model of my fins are called "FISH". I had a buddy check out the stiffness of the fin and he tells me that they just as stiff as the "PRO". I also took a pic of the box in case anyone recognizes it.

These fins came with the adjustable webbings. I switched them out to the Force-Fin Heel Strap Bungee Kit. The adjustable webbings just looked like a disaster waiting to happen doing my surf entries and reentries.
