This post is for those of you using Inon strobes with the fiber optic cable and clear film system.

How many times have you wanted to take a photo using the cameras strobe rather than the Inon strobe because of the subjects location?
You couldn't because the dark strip of clear film over the cameras strobe prevented it.

Here is an option:

The typical position of the dark film strip over the cameras strobe and attachment of the fiber optic cable to the housings diffuser.

Cut a section from a food container lid that fits the shape of the housings diffuser. Punch a hole in the plastic to allow the fiber optic cable to detect the cameras flash. Be sure the plastic section is thin enough to fit in the space left between the housing diffuser and the cable connector. I cut the section wider than the flash diffuser for more coverage.

Use the camera without the dark film strip. Attach the dark plastic section between the housings diffuser and the Inon cable connector. Center the cable connector over the plastic section so the cable is over the hole punched in the plastic section.
You now have the capability of using the cameras strobe if needed by simply removing the plastic section. Another option is to leave the dark plastic section off and use the cameras strobe as a fill flash.

DesertEagle:
Gilligan, wouldn't most people with the Inon strobe have an articulating arm?

Yes, but for this demonstration purpose I didn't show it.
