Hi everyone,

I am having a meeting with Cressi Spain on the 4th of november, and will take this opportunity to bring up some data from their customers, on the Archimede computer & related items.

I have posted this thread on 2 french boards, on here and will do it also on a spanish board, therefore having a wide range of customers (if only you wish to take part massively if you have one of these computers). This could help on upgrades, firmwares, or evolutions of the computers or interfaces.

Please don't trash the thread as i'll use it to retype all the whole stuff nice and clean.

could you help by following this format :

- Archimede II (bracelet, console, ...)
- Problem : Interface, computer
- décribe the problem(s) with the item hereabove... if you have problems with interface and computer, please make 2 separate parts in the post.

thanks a lot and i hope to get a lot from this, so that we can make our stuff better, safer and greater, and will thank cressi for listening to us after all this.

As an 3rd party software developer I (and Cressi customers) would be happy if there would be an API function to download directly from Cressi dive computers into other software products. Cressi wouldn't need to provide any dive computer secrets if they develop an API DLL download, but for cressi computer owners it would be a great enhancement.

Could you develop a little more the concept please ? i'm an ex developer, but if you provide more details on what you would like in the API etc that would be good. :)

Have you noticed anything on the archimede that you would like improved ? sound not loud enough, buttons, icons, ergonomics, anything on the interface, the clip, the setup ... ?

Guys, we don't have many opportunities to have contacts with Manufacturers to make things happen (maybe), and this is a great opportunity.

but for sure on the mass of people over the boards, there are not just 2 who would like to see improvements for own safety and enjoyment no ?

I think about a DLL file which other software developers can include into their programs. The DLL file is able to download the data from the dive computer and creates, for example, a XML file which can be imported into any other format, or the DLL file provides the data via return values of functions.

This way Cressi users can choose to use the free Cressi software, or if they want further features they can use 3rd party software and are also able to download from their dive computer.

GRRRRRR! Why a DLL???!!! Only usable under M$ Windoos!!! It would be VERY nice if (finally!) also Mac and Linux users can use dive computer logging software on their system! The protocol specs would be much nicer!

However, I think they will never publish such things, since this allows users to build their own cheap-*** DC interface, which makes the (in many cases) very expensive original interface obsolete.

A usable option that might be accepted is to make a command-line driven application that outputs an XML file.

But to return to the original question in this thread:

- They may do a better job on the PC software. It looks a little bit like an old Windows 3.1 application. Also the functionality is a little bit limited.

- The interface of the divecomputer itself is very simple and nice, one of the nicest out there, although it would be nice for the computer to be slightly less conservative.

hi dexter,

i have transmitted those data already to cressi (regarding the old fashioned look & feel, the DLL etc).

I have also asked them to try and provide us with a downloadable, and exportable format, like CSV, XML or other type... this might come. If i also may state to quit your complaining... the interface you pay for, but the software is free download on the website... if you fancy playing about, just get a soft tracking the usb transfer and get the data right :). like for comm. Server.
