With the rain and thunderstorms finally leaving us, Fencingfish joined me for a night dive at Folly last night. We were suprised to see no one else there so we had Folly to ourselves. The water was pretty still and the winds were calm. We were going in almost 1/2 way between high and low tide.
We chose to tour the left side and headed to the point and back moving up and down the walls, swimming through the little passes. The vis surprisingly wasn't that bad. We could at least see as far as the range of our UW lights. We encountered Plenty of cool sealife. A couple Sea Ravens, Sea Robin, a decent sized striper, lots of flounder (including lots of little jueveniles), skate and bugs. Interesting seeing the lobstahs crawling up along the wall and even upside down like big cock roaches. The highlight was seeing the schools of baby squid in the shallows as we were returning back. Very curious about our lights We surfaced to partly cloudy sky with view of the stars.
Total Bottom time 80 min, max depth 46 fsw, temp 57 degrees
Folly by far is one of my best night dive spots.
