Did after work dusk dive w/ Fencingfish at Folly. Was dead calm and incoming tide when we arrived. The vis was pretty good. (15-20 ft?) Water is finally warm, coldest temp was 51 at max depth of 42 fsw. 57-60 degrees on surface. We toured the left side to the point and back, fed the resident Northern Red Anemone towards the end. We saw the Squid eggs I saw last weekend so we'll soon be greeted arrival of baby squid. There were lots of flounder and tautog and a few striped bass following us in the shallows. 64 min BT.
As conditions were good, glad I brought a 2nd "Just in case tank" and did a 2nd night dive at Lanes Cove. I went in at 8:56 as the tide was the highest. (waterline was beyond area normally suit up) Headed North towards the pink granite area before going to the wall and headed back to entry point. Definitely much cooler (42 degrees) at depth (63 fsw)
In 42 min BT, saw lots of cool critter sightings including several HUGE Lobzillas. I saw one of the biggest lobsters I have ever seen there. It had to be over 25 pounds, the claws were bigger than my hand!. Came across an odd thing in one of pots. There were at least 20 Moon snails in and around the pot. A spot you normally don't see Moon Snails so I guess a lobsterman put them in the pot to use as bait? Along the wall in the sand came across some Scallops as well which was kind of cool.
As returned saw several baby sculpin/ravens and an eel snake which I'm used to seeing in fresh water ponds.
Pretty cool night. Now if only the SOX won as driving back.
