I see that the small parking lot is marked Resident Sticker Only. What are the tried and true tricks for getting around this??

Fifty degrees at the bottom of Back Beach today. Brrr.

Well, there are two methods. You could roll the dice and park there [I've done that a couple times, but generally late season or night]. The safest is to drop your gear and then head back down 127 to the street that goes up the hill on the left [Washington st. maybe?]. We've generally parked there. Granted I've not dove folly all year, so things could have changed.

We parked there on Saturday from about 11:30 until about 4:00 with no problem. Lot was fairly full all day. I have same question about dive site (don't recall name) just a bit south down 27 with parking across the st.

That's Plum Cove, it has the baseball field across the street? I've only been there twice. One for a quick test gear out short dive [10 minutes], and I parked in the parking lot with the field. Another instance Rick L, King Kong Matt and I had a night dive there, we all parked separate cars in the parking lot during a softball game. A cop even pulled in the parking lot and didn't say anything.

That doesn't say it's ok, just my experience.

I agree with Spectre's comments -- you're probably fine at night or late/early season. Weekends are more risky, but I would guess later in the season is likely OK.

I've been parked there at night and had a Gloucester PD cruiser pay us a visit . He said we were fine to park there at night as long as we keep the noise to the minimum. His comment was that lots of noise/overcrowded conditions usually lead to complaints from neighbors....which results in a PD visit. He just happened to be passing by and was checking to see if we were lobestering after dark (we weren't).

Between Memorial Day and Labor Day during "normal" daylight hours don't even try to park unless you have the sticker. Very early in the day, read before 8am you're okay. You are also okay late at night. You can park at the turn in the road near the restaurants or in the other direction on the first street on the right.

Now between Labor Day and Memorial Day feel free to park anytime. It is highly unlikely that you'll get a ticket. I've parked there hundreds of times with no problem. In fact today the police came by just to chat and tell me to dive safely.
