No conf. calls, calendar clear in afternoon so headed down to Cape Ann. Conditions looked good. (Seas 1-2 ft, Seas South / South East, 5-10 knots) High tide at Rockport was around 4:00. I was hoping could do Cathedral Rocks so checked it out. The winds picked up in East which is never good for that site so then checked out Lanes Cove. It was an unusually high tide. Would have been doable but chose Folly instead. I had the cove to myself and dove the left side. In just before 5. Bottom time 101 minutes, max depth 80 fsw. Temp at depth 42-44 and surface temp 50. I took my time heading along the wall, fed the resident Northern red Anemone along the way and then continued on to the left of the cove to the deeper parts w/ huge Rock formations. Lots of Flounder and fish and came across a cool school of bait fish. They were like gold fish. On return back, took my time covering all parts of the wall, going into the shallow coves, looking under everything. Very relaxing.

I chanced the parking and again, got away without a ticket. I know I'm pushing my luck.

Can't wait to take my two kiddos there once they finish their Open Water. (have to do the Open Water part)

Looks like lots of round rocks, aka ankle turners, have been uncovered at the shoreline this year. Even so, it's a great dive site.
Thanks for the report.

yes.. these rocks are not helping for an easy entry. Folly used to be even easier as it is now :)
but as you said, this is still a great dive site ! One of the few you can easily reach 80ft...

Last dive there, I was surprised to see again all these notices on my computer, not used to these anymore ;)

Still waiting for Town of Gloucester to build a ramp/set of stairs for us divers to make it easier for us to get down. Also, to clear out a path. Oh, a shower rinse station and port a potty.

The least they could do for all the $$ we spend on Cape Ann Businesses.

Honestly... this is what we have now in Zeeland (The Netherlands)... Because there are so many divers and it represents a good touristic attractions (campings, air fills, equipments...) they probably want to make sure we promote the diving industry, despite some "fights" with the local fishermen... We all try to live in peace...

I tried to find a website showing these nice ramps put in place without success... if I find them later, I will post it. I can tell you that since they are in place, it is really nice and confortable. It also helps channelling divers, so other users are not bothered as much, if any at all.
