I have a G11 ikelite housing and strobe, I love my camera but I am having issues with getting the focal point right for close up shots of small things. Seems the focal point is about an inch behind my subjects.

I center the subject and I think the camera is set to use the center point as the focus, sometimes my subject is right in the center but the focus is not.

I shoot manual except for the focus I am not sure how to do that if that is what is required.

Do I need one of those lenses? what one do I get?

Ideas? opinions?:D

These might sound like dumb questions but do you use the small or large AF point. I always use the small one on my G-12.

I'm referring to the G-12 below, not sure if the settings changed between the 11 and 12.

Also, are you sure you are using FlexiZone and not Tracking AF or Face AiAF. If your AF point is green then you are probably in FlexiZone, if it is blue you are in Tracking AF which might track or AF on something different since there is a shutter lag on my G-series cameras. Not sure what color the Face Detect AF point is.

Another thing to check is your Continuous AF, it also might lock onto something other than what you want since it is always focusing. I use the Continuous AF but only on half shutter press so it isn't always trying to focus on something even if you don't depress the shutter half way.

If you are using the large AF point, depending on how close or far away you are it might lock on a different area, since the G-series cameras use a Contrast AF system.

Or, you might have bumped the camera hard not knowing it and it has messed something up inside. You could always send it to Canon for adjustment, they are great about checking the whole system out. Everything from P&S up to Pro bodies have AF problems from time to time and need adjustment, even the $8,000.00 bodies.

Not sure if any of this helps but thought I would chime in with a couple suggestions.

Hope it helps..
