Flying with a Seacraft Future

The shipping case is the Nanuk 960 with Imperial inside dimensions of 22 × 17 × 12.9” (L x W x H). Looks like some disassembly will be required.

Yeah I have several Pelican cases that are this size or even a little larger. But they are not long enough for the Future. As I mentioned it is an awkward length that just doesn’t seem to fit in any regular size cases for air travel.

Now, the box IS expensive, but if you frequently fly with it, it may be a valid option:

Yeah this is more of a one time trip. This scooter will basically just live down in Mexico.

I am think my only option right now dumpster diving in the cardboard box bins and playing arts and crafts to make a box that will fit it.

Problem with the Future is when you pull the “tube” off it’s not like the Genesis or other scooters where the motor/propeller is one part and the tube/battery is another. The Future has a long metal shaft that is connected to the moto/propeller that makes it about 33” long and there is a label on the metal shaft that says not once but twice to not remove it or it voids the warranty.

Also not to mention I don’t think traveling with the tube off and that rod exposed is a good idea. That is just waiting to be broken or bent.

Get an Igloo cooler (or something similar), some ratchet straps and foam. Presto, awesome scooter case and, a cooler for use in MX.

In the US, I believe a cheap Igloo that should fit your scooter is just over $100.

That tube/pipe is easily removed, and should be removed if need to ship your DPV for service or elsewhere, especially if you don’t ship it fully assembled or just the bottom is shipped.

This case won’t work for the Genesis 3.1 even with disassembly. Although I prefer the bombproof advantage of a hard case and Nanuk makes a larger version, I’ll exceed the common 62” linear measurement maximum and the ubiquitous 50lb weight guideline. I’ll probably spring for the Logic Dive Systems air travel case.
