Anyone do it on the regular? Live in ATL and enjoy diving in NC and FL, but fly most times. I would like to carry a redundant air source, but cant find anyone to rent tanks smaller than 80's. could rig an 80 up as a stage, but a 30 or 40 would be easier. Everyone tell me why I am an idiot in 3...2....1.... BTW I get 2 bags at 70lbs each, so would not have to worry about bag fees.

With weight not being a real restrictio, what is the problem?

Are you checking it? Should be no problem. Make sure the valve is off.

It's your dive. If you want to bring it, then do it! Just remember the TSA requires valves be removed.

Where are you going? Did you make sure you can get a fill?

I do it with a 19 I knock the valve out and toss it in my checked bag.

Never been asked but I have a vip card and do check for stuff before reinstalling the valve. The valve must be removed before it can go on an aircraft.

Are you required to get a visual at your destination?
I fly with a 19 cuft pony. I've never been asked for a visual, but always check before I fly and will bring a fill-whip if I hear one will be required.

FWIW, I always put a hunk of blue painters tape over the neck
