I just heard this on the news...

I think its great (except for the fee)

I wonder how fast it will spread, they don't have many airports yet. SF and NY though

it's kind of exciting having your iris captured....
I still need to figure out my biometric fingerprint password manager. I think the new laptops have the biometric pads.

Unless you go through "clear" x-ray and baggage inspection, I don't understand how this will speed things up? I think the biggest bottle neck is when everyone has to take off their shoes and empty their pockets into the little bins, and then collect their things and put them back in their pockets.

Don't tell the TSA, but while I'm waiting in line, I stuff all my belongings into my carryon and send it through the x-ray. It's rocket science! :crafty: I was behind two guys in line once and it looked they would just need one bin each and breeze through- I'm not sure where they pulled some of the stuff out of, but they ended up using three bins each. At that point, I cut in line as they methodically stripped down in front of the x-ray machine.

disregard, too early in the morning..

It´s a "fast lane" just like FF-clubs on airlines...it looks like "clear" employs or pay TSA-people to service the "clear-lane"...as long as there aren´t to many "clear-people", it will be faster...

It´s a way for the TSA and others to take advantage of their own ineptitude. If you´re bad enough you can get people to pay extra for the service you´re supposed to provide in the first place. In a monopoly the supplier makes the rules...

They´ve had this in some airports in Europe like Schipol for a year or so now as well (don´t think it´s the same company)...personally I wouldn´t bother as most airports (here at least) have a way for you to get a "red card" and go to the front of the line if you can show you are about to miss your flight...And it´s not as bad here as the TSA...

he he...I never thought about it like that, you are right. When I go the site it looks like the same TSA doing the checking. Its not a private company that it was outsourced to, was it?

Oh...maybe its a way they can get up to speed and "test" the idea before inflicting themselves on the general public?

omgosh..I will NEVER forget the TSA lady giving a big condescending speech to the whole dumbfounded line as she dumped a man's toiletries and meds into the trash from a "hefty" brand zip-lock as she stated it MUST be a "Zip-lock" brand.

But...I want a card with biometric iris imaging encrypted....wooooo, we've arrived. Any pitfalls, like more likely to be held hostage or anything? I guess it would make it easier to identify your body, maybe.

What I want is the service I saw on my last flight out of Phoenix.

This guy and two really gorgeous women were personally met by a USAirways employee, given passes to wear around their necks and escorted the wrong way through international arrivals where all they did was show their ID's - no shoe removal, no briefcase check, no pass through the metal detector - to the uniformed immigration agent at the counter who keeps people from entering the wrong way.

I later saw them waiting to board a plane. Probably to Mexico since that's where I was going also.

I'm guessing they were some sort of Mexican government dignitaries...the women anyway certainly looked Hispanic.
They could've also been actresses or models...

WOW, I'm impressed. So..why has this never occured to me? Tony, you have made me doubt myself. Ever since Mania called me blonde, I'm thinking it could be TRUE.

So..are they watching you do this? they have cameras on these lines, you know. I left a pillow on a chair to go to the bathroom and was pounced by security. Someone picked up on it from cameras in the room "above". LAX

Seems like having a card that shows you have had a background check, they ran your SS number would be good.(everybody else has it...why shouldn't I be able to use it to make MY life easier?)

I heard somebody say we need to stop looking for items and start looking for terrorists. That makes sense to me. The pursuit of items that *could* be used is endless and takes everyone off of the main objective. The latest freak out is C4 explosives that looks like blocks of cheese. Its endless....better move on to profiling. afterall, isnt profiling a science, Mr Actuary?--thats all insurance companies do is profile you based on stats, right?

do it easy:

Why would they mind? Doesent every1 do that? Stuff doesen´t get scanned "less" in the machine...I always put watch, cell, wallet, coins n stuff in my backpack...it just speeds everything up...it´s what every1 should do...

I tend to have a few reg-sets, hid, camera, divecomp etc in my carry-on so I know I´ll propably be asked to open the bag anyway...they never ask me about my "metal-wallet" or the other stuff..

If they mind, they haven't said anything to me about it. :D I even tie my sneakers loosely so that I can just slip them on and off.

It just seems like some people wait until the last minute to remember that they stuffed their pockets full of items that the TSA might find interesting.
