Florida's Ocean Fest cancelled for 2009 !?

Ocean Fest Dive and Adventure Sports Expo

Unfortunately, I was recently advised by the City of Fort Lauderdale that they had scheduled a major construction project at the Ocean Fest show venue, to include re paving, a new entrance, a handicapped sidewalk, seawall, etc.

The City is unable to give me an exact construction schedule, but has indicated that there is a high probability that construction at the show site will be underway during the scheduled dates of Ocean Fest for 2009. Based on this fact, and the lack of other suitable venues, I feel I have no alternative but to cancel this year's event and reschedule for April 16, 17 & 18, 2010.

Wow! I thought everyone was broke and making cutbacks. Well I hope the show returns 2010

Wow that sucks, I was not happy with it last year but I was hoping it would be better this year. Especially now that my wife is back diving again.

Wow... this is a disappointment. I always LOVED the open air atmosphere at this show.
