HI All

Next year I'm going a week to Manado and Lembeh and I'm already planing my 2017 trip . I am thinking Flores, indonesia.
March is a good time?
Due to my job I can not be one week on a boat without communications.
In land what are the best place?

Hi ppina,

Flores in March should be okay for diving. You will have warm waters that average about 29C at the surface. However, March is the rainy season for this part of Indonesia. While most of the time, it only rains a little every day. Sometimes, this could mean that dive trips are canceled. It also indicates that pelagic species are less frequently seen.

If you are committed to staying on land, you will most likely need to be based around Labuan Bajo or Maumere. Maumere is the less popular of the two, but it still has dive centers and some great sites.

Several dive resorts and centers welcome guests near Komodo and Labuan Bajo. I personally enjoyed diving from Kanawa Island which hosts its own dive center. Others have recommended Wicked Diving Komodo. You can find out more information about the weather averages and dive center reviews on our pages about Indonesia, Flores and Komodo.

Happy diving!

I am planning for the first week of April.
Thanks

I was there last April, for a trip on the Komodo Dancer;
On the 6th, our flight from DPS to LBJ was not able to land due to weather, and had to return to DPS.
New flight early on the 7th, arrived OK in light rain.
By the time we got to the harbor it was getting ugly- but the guys in the tender decided to go for it (get me to the boat). Not the safest option, as they were not prepared, and the weather was getting worse.
Once out of the harbor, it got really bad. High winds, big waves, hard rain, no vis. We could not find the boat, and had to take shelter off the Komodo Resort Diving Club. It looked pretty nice (and it was awesome to stand on their dock after the brutal ride!). I would check it out if I were to go land-based.

I forgot to add that the weather was perfect for the next 9 days, and it was a great trip!

We just stayed at Angel Isle Resort for a week and it was awesome. It's a private island 20 minutes boat ride from Labuan Bajo. We chose it because we also need to be in communication with our office at all times. Wifi in the room, a bit spotty at times but it got the job done. Diving was great and so was everything else.
