After many years of use and pictures my c-5060 is gone.

Yesterday while diving the TTL cap/bulkhead was knocked off (lost some how) leaving a big opening in my case. Needless to say with that big of an opening it does not take long for the case to fill up with water.

At the surface I turned on the unit and it started up as usual. When I went to take a picture the screen was blank. Thinking it was in "sleep" mode I tried several things to start the camera, but to no avail. I then noticed the entire housing was filled with water. Ratttttsssss!!!

It appears the Olympus C-5060 and 54f degree Anacapa sea water do not mix well. This took out my housing, camera, 4gb SmartCard and 512kb xD.

I rinsed the memory cards as I have heard stories the Smartcards have worked after rinsing and drying off.

I still have my C-7070 I just need to find a housing for it.

I'm amazed at how many times I've read about this happening - thank heavens I replaced my bulkheads with the H/W !!!

Hi ejg62,

I'm very sorry about your loss. I lost my C-5060 on a road trip, replaced it with the C-7070, and lost that to flooding (not underwater, but while shooting in the rain). I thought you might be interested in the housing, which is in top condition.

Cheers,
Daniel

Yes may be interested, I am evaluating my options at the moment. Reply in private with what you would like for it and how we do this.
