Ditto on the stupid lens cover. I now tuck it between my housing and tray while I shoot, because anytime you're aiming down it's in the shot. If I have to open my housing between dives, I always hold it up in bright light and move it around to scan both surfaces for lint, hair, sand or other debris. I've found that the special q-tip thingies that are designed for applying eye-liner work great for swabbing out the o-ring groove. Always be sure to wash your hands before you wipe silicone lube onto the o-ring. Be sure to lift the mode selector wheel while you drop the camera in so it's not cocked, and as mentioned before, double check that the seam of the dessicant faces the lens and isn't caught in the housing and that the tail of the two knotted strings are clear of the cover. I also did one dive with one latch left open. Fortunately, only about a tablespoon got in and it didn't hurt anything but soak the dessicant and force me to spend half an hour wiping the inside of my housing and lens port. Sorry about the loss of your camera and more important missing some great pics.
