Hi all - I flooded my A620 in a WP-DC90 housing while snorkeling. It was my own fault - I had that stupid flash shield cord caught in the hinge and I didn't notice it until I was underwater. The camera is ruined - I tried flushing it with fresh water and alcohol. I want to buy a replacement but the A620's aren't cheap - I thought the price would be dropping since newer models are out but it hasn't. I don't want an A610. Does any other camera fit in the DC-90 housing?

Thanks, trig

Used A620 can be had for around $120-130 in good condition on ebay.

Edit: I believe the newer A630/A640 would fit, but the buttons on the back of the camera wouldn't line up with the housing exactly due to the larger LCD. You could probably still use the shutter and zoom though. Might be worth checking out.

The A640 is not a good fit for that housing. Actually, it is a terrible fit.

I bought a reconditioned A620 for about $125 from Canon. I had to send them a non-working A620 to get it for that price though.

That is what I would do, it is s great little camera.

I will have to check that out. Thanks!

I sure wish they would have standardized the housing sizes. I would rather upgrade to a better model, but I don't want to pay for a brand new housing.

Pop for the $125 reconditioned job from Canon. Too bad you missed B&H liquidating the Ikelite housings for the A620. I got one and love it. I will never get another Canon toy housing again.

The A630/640's do not fit in the A620 housing. Canon is very clever about changing the smallest thing to make you have to buy a new housing.

This isn't confined to Canon or any one brand. You have to keep in mind that manufacturer's don't create cameras for divers - they just happen to make some housings for some of their models. So the next gen camera gets updated with no regard for the housing.

And frankly, if I were a camera manufacturer I'd change something each time, too...another sale is another sale ;) As a consumer, I'm wishing the new model fit my existing housing, but it's probably a pipe dream :D
