Flights to Yap or Palau from HK?

I am heading to Asia and buying an open ticket from New York to Hong Kong. I would like to visit Yap, what city in Asia is cheaper to fly to Yap or Palau from? Or what is the best routing to fly to Yap or Palau?

From HK I will be heading to Thailand to dive, and then most likely fly back to HK and then head to Yap or another island. But it seems the cheapest flight is $900 from HK.

Or what about Palau? I have a few months off so I have flexible travel dates.

Can anybody point to the cheapest way to travel to those pacific island? I am planning on traveling for a few months so need to conserve the cash as well. Hotels or Inns.

to get to yap and palau you have to go with Continental from either Manila or Guam. Manila flight to palau on wed and sat and then to Yap. Guam to palau daily. Guam to yap on wed, thurs and sat. palau-yap also wed, thurs, sat.

Not sure about pricing diff between Manila and Guam for flights to yap and palau but probably cheaper HK to manila

Oh my gosh. Planning this trip is so stressful. At first I decided I would make HK my traveling hub to other places. Right now it seems that Japan is a better idea.

All the quotes I got from HK to Palau were about $1000. HK to Guam to Palau.
I didn't even get the section from Palau to Yap. It's crazy... It seems I will be spending over 5K in plane ticket alone in my entire trip. :-(

Continental Micronesia has high season pricing right now, about 75% higher than normal. But they are the only ones who fly into Micronesia.

By any chance do you know when the low season will start? I have the time to wait and hang around in Asia before going to Palau/Yap.

i would say june or july i think but not sure. Do a couple of test flights on Continental.com for different dates

You can get tickets from Manila to Koror at $499. Ask Fish N' Fins.
Tickets from HK to Manila can be as cheap as HKD 1700
But the service of Fish N' Fins is really bad.
