Check the frequency of flights. Problem as I recall is they are once a week, maybe twice in busier season, usually weekends only. Bonaire is getting harder to get to IMHO since AA stopped their flights. have you ever been to Curacao ?? I am told it has a lot of similarities (but bigger). I mention it because I am thinking it is next for us after nine years of going to Bonaire.

Did you check the delta from jfk direct to bonaire on saturdays? its showing $481 rt 3/6 - 3/16

Thanks. Unfortunately, I can't get there early enough in the a.m. to make the flight. The return also gets in to late, so both become overnight flights.

The flights out of Atlanta are over a $1000.

We wanted to stay a little more than a week, so the Sat - Sat flights won't work (thats why I wasn't getting them as options on my searchs).

It looks like the overnight on Friday out of Newark is the one.

Thanks for the help everyone.:D

We flew through Curacao - which is a whole lot easier to get to through miami, san juan, and a number of other places. then we took DAE from Curacao to Bonaire - they leave almost every hour.

Paradise,

The price you first quoted is the norm, especially during March. Even though Bonaire is NOT a "spring break" destination (thank goodness), airfare during the month of March to the Caribbean is always high...

There are not daily flights into Bonaire for the US, just on Sat/Sun.

You may want to look at flying American into Curacao then hop over to Bonaire (12 minute flight on DAE for about $100 pp/rt). American is having a SALE right now....I found dates in March from Detroit to Curacao $492.80 pp/RT. Check out Airline Tickets and Airline Reservations from American Airlines | AA.com and select your booking by Schedule and Price...

I was down there last week and talked to several people that flew out of Miami to Curacao and the puddle jumper to Bonaire. They said it really wasn't that big of a deal.

Last year I took the redeye (Friday night) out of Houston arriving in Bonaire early Saturday. This year took the Delta flight out of Atlanta Saturday morning. Each worked well. Check the flights frequently because $$$ change frequently. Obviously, the closer you get the more $$$, but I've seen the prices fluctuate up to $1000 up and down within minutes. This year I paid $630 out of Kansas City. That was about the best price I could find and booked in August for a November trip.

The one problem with flying the local carriers is luggage space may be limited.

I've flown the Continental redeye 6 times. Yes, it is a pain, but once you are there the memory of the 4+ hour sleepless flight quickly disappears. The benefit is you can dive that morning. As well, since it leaves Bonaire early in the AM, you can make it back home the same day avoiding an O/N someplace.
