Try f8 with shutter speed of 1/50 and only dial the ISO up or down depending on exposure. This would require full manual settings.
Does this camera have one touch WB?
PS: are you on the 2019 firmware v1.08 and up? What are the improvements?

I'm pretty sure I had set on auto focus since it was so small.I was reading the sealife manual and it looks like when shooting close it seems you have switch from infinity focus to auto-focus and this automatically reduces DOF. Not sure if you have the option of close focus and infinite DOF with this gear.
