I see this little guy in Pensacola bay near the Pass at Ft. Pickens Jetties in about 12 feet of water.
My guess is a phase of Slippery Dick Wrasse as there are many in the area, or a type of jawfish as he will dive in the sand (head first?) when I get too close. What do you think?

It would seem to be a Juvenile Blackear Wrasse. Reference: Paul Humann's Reef Fish Identification, 3rd Ed., pg. 226.

Tell tale is the black spot between the eye and edge of the gill cover and the colouring.

Good eye Sub Mariner, the dot was so close to his other colorings I overlooked it
