Hi Friends,
Stumped by this fish. Seen fairly commonly in the shallows off Puerto Rico. Tend to lay on their side @ 45deg against camouflage before darting off. Not very approachable unless they think you cannot see them. This specimen was about 8"-10"; many other in the area range in size from 4"-10". 6ft depth.
Reminds me of Redtail Parrotfish (Sparisoma chrysopterum) ... but a tough call (ref. Humann 2nd ed. Reef fish)
Please let me know what species you believe it is and why.
