Yes, I have used my Humminbird side scan while I was diving and my wife was able to see my image about 30 feet below the boat. N

CrawfishDiver:
The shark attack 3 thread made me wonder has anyone ever used a fish finder around divers. I would like to see how well it works.

"Jeezis Ethel, would ya look at the SIZE of them thar fishies!"

I use a handheld from Norcross to find lost buddies in the limited vis of lake and quarry diving. Works great!

You carry it with you on your dive then surface to find them or you use it under water? Please elaborate, I'm curious :)

It is about the size and shape of a handheld flashlight and good to 160 feet deep. Has a small screen that shows distance and a fish if it detects a fish (or a diver).

I used a Hawkeye handheld for kayak diving. It is also about the size of a flashlight and is waterproof to 200feet. It finds fish as well as telling you water temp.
