Thanks for all of the info! I do use an ecig and was wondering about that - mine is the box style with a dripper. Hopefully by the time we go, I won't be using it anymore. Figured as much as we are underwater smoking needing to go.

With the box mod for the ecig and three video lights, we are bringing 10 18650/26650 batteries. Those go in checked bags on way back. Camera batteries etc. need to be in checked bag as well for the return flight?

Thanks for further rubbing it in, DD....

I think all lithium batteries are supposed to be in carry ons on the way down, so they don't explode in the luggage compartment and no one sees it?

However on the way back, I think the MXs don't want them exploding around passengers, so you have to check them in the luggage?

What I bring is usually installed in something in my carryon and I have been fine both ways.

They did ask me "how many cameras do you have?!" (kind of surprised like for some reason), last year or the year before, when I got the "red light" going through customs. I only had one, not sure why they asked, other than my camera was not in with my pelican case with my camera equipment. But that is the only time anyone has questioned me.

I said "just one", I said and no more was said.

... adding a GoPro to the arsenal this year.

I might just do that - just leave the batteries installed.

yes, I install batteries in everything that needs a battery, camera(s), our little "backup" dive lights, whatever. I do carry extras for my camera in my pelican case, but they don't look like typical batteries (black, rectangle boxes), and I have never been questioned or harassed about them.
