Just got back from my first class...

AWESOME I have a bad feeling that I'll be spending a lot of money on gear soon!

Welcome to the addictive world of scuba. Wasnt that long ago i was in the same situation that u r now. One thing I wish had done was to TRY b4 u buy or at least ask lots of questions and take time to look around. The tendency is to rush out and buy your own gear ASAP. I did. I have since changed my mask, fins, hood, bought the wrong knife as well. Even fins can be either very comfortasble or cause aches cramps, there are so many types to try. Pretty happy with my BCD and regs although the computer i bought; well i wouldnt buy the same one with what i know now. Its polite to support the dive shop that you did your course at, but they dont always carry the full range of gear available. For what its worth, after i got my ticket i wish i had hired gear for the first 6 or so times. This would of allowed me to try different gear inc fins, and even different sized tanks, etc which would of made my purchase decision more accurate to my style.. Good luck, enjoy.

Good advice from Fitzy. Also checkout all the gear sections here on scubaboard. Just keep an open mind since opinions can be quite personal

Welcome to the real world. There are many kinds and brands of diving equipments. There are cheap equipments and expensive once. My advice is buy your equipment piece by piece accourding to your needs and your budget. Thats why you should be careful about what you are buying, which brand and if it is confortable or not. Remember you are buying equipment that will live and keep you alife for a long time. So you must buy something trustful even if it is expensive. take care, dive safe and have a nice life

I remember the first time that I was in the pool with the scuba gear for my OW class. It was quite a exhilaring experience!

hahhahah..welcome to scuba. you did ur lesson in pool or open water ? if pool, wait till you're diving at the sea, you'll love it even more. word of advice, do not re-morgage your house to get the latest dive comp :)

Rent for while before you buy. Don't try to save money on regs. Seriously look at the BP/W setup............enjoy. Research this board, some great advice here.
