It may be obvious but it's usually nice to do a shore equipment check before going out on a boat,with all the shore shops on Coz and nice shore depths 15-25 ft. it's a nice opportunity to do this.

This will also give you a general idea on weighting since you may be using less neoprene,but have the added bouyancy of salt water.

Backrolling off a boat is a bad time to find out you're light,and that your regulator came loose from luggage mishandling.
 
I would really recommend that you look for a different dive-op. If you go to the Cozumel forum, there's lots of info about dive-ops, places to stay, restaurants, cab fares, bars, etc. If you are going to dive with Palancar, though, try and hook up with Adrian (if he is still there). A very superior divemaster - very patient, very observant, and will help you through any small issues that may arise. Check out the other forum, and have a great trip. I know it is coming all too slow!!!
