I have an Apeks XTX100 primary and XTX50 for singles diving. I am moving to doubles and need to buy another 1st stage. I am a big fan of the FST, which is the first stage of the XTX100, and looked for a matching one for the XTX50; however, they are very difficult to find by themselves. This may be a stupid question, but do most of you that dive doubles have identical first stages on your doubles? Are there any advantages to having the same 1st stage on each post? Since it is so difficult to find a new FST 1st stage, I'm close to just buying an Apeks DS4 for the XTX50 so that I can finally go dive them. Thanks.

hey auburn man, kinda off the suject but.......GEAUX TIGERS.......LOLOLOL.......

I've seen a lot of people use mix 'n match 1st stages. Most people like to use the same regs for interchangeability, looks, etc. but I believe the parts kits are the same for the FST and DS4 so that shouldn't be an issue. I'd say go for it as long as you don't mind looking like a dork :)

Just to confirm, all Apeks first stages use the same service kit.
