...since my OW cert! We dove near the dam at Table Rock Lake in Missouri. The first dive was 66' for 39 min. which, by my computer, was fine. But I was shocked to find that the PADI dive tables showed that I was at the max time for that depth! So, as I tried to fill out my dive log for the other five dives, and I'm thinking I should be dead by now. Should I not worry about it? I did write down all the times and depths in the log book, but just didn't figure out the pressure groups.

Thats great and from those numbers I think your air consumption is pretty good for a first dive.

You may want to review the definition of bottom time though. Thats what the dive tables give you.(actual time spent at 66 feet) Your computer gives you your total dive time.(total time in the water, including ascent from 66 feet) Remember, your table is not designed for dives in which you do not ascend directly to the surface.

Other five dives??? You did 6 dives in one day?

No, The first was a night dive on fri. and the other ones on sat..

I do not fill out the table if I am diving with my computer. Just check the box that states computer______ Charts are for "bottom time" square profiles.

PADI's "The Wheel" diving planner might give you more realistic bottom time/pressure group for your dive. A bit expensive for a thin piece of plastic, but not a bad investment and a great complement to your computer to help better understand dive depth/time limits. Planning a dive using tables and comparing the results with a dive computer has given me a better understanding of my dive computer and my personal limits underwater.

Welcome to diving, life doesn't get much better!
