Hello everybody,

This is the first time I've ever posted to any forum, I'm looking for help with my under water camera settings. I have a Sea & Sea 8000d with a YS110 Strobe my pictures seem to be grainy and my strobe doesn't fire all the time, can anyone help?

Also is there a help section for this site? What is a Trackback?

Welcome to Scubaboard,
Try posting your question under one of the appropriate many subforms of http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/underwater-photography/

By grainy do you mean there is lots of specks in the photos shaped roughly like a pentagon or octagon (the shutter inside the camera)? If so that is what is called back scatter caused by particulates in the water reflecting light back into the camera. A flash that is part of the camera and near the lens will cause that every time. The cure is to get the light so it is as far away from the lens as possible say 45 degree angle from subject to lens.

In the meantime, what part of California are you in? A city would be helpful or a simple SoCAl or NoCal.

welcome aboard
