Hi everyone, this is my first post to get rid of that banner on top about me never posting ever since I created this account a while ago. I've only been here to research since there are so many topics already covered but I may start posting more actively here eventually if not soon.

I've recently been trying to get back into SCUBA after 1.5 years out of the ocean and will be going out for my first dive this weekend somewhere in Monterey.

Hey, welcome to the boards and back to diving, too. I know what you mean about doing research. I joined a little awhile ago too but just started posting because every question I could think of I could answer by using the search features! What a great resource.

Welcome to the board!

If you've been out of Scuba over a year, and had but a few dives logged then, a refresher course would possibly be a very good idea. Also check our New Divers forum...

And don't be shy about posting. Click Forums above, tour the long list of choices, and jump in anywhere you're qualified. PM me with any questions, and I'll try to find a pretty good answer.

Welcome to the boards, and more importantly, welcome back to the water! Were glad that your finally posting!!

Thanks for all the replies.

I was diving at the south end of Monestery Beach in Carmel this past weekend and it was a great dive. Conditions weren't bad, so it was a pretty easy dive, little bit of surge, 40+ft vis, 57~59F. Life at that beach seems to be thriving; at about 30-fsw, krill was out in the largest swarm I've ever seen. It was like looking at a huge wall of them.
