I'll be going on my first (and likely only) liveaboard in less than 4 weeks. Going to the Sea of Cortez on the Don Jose. As my wife doesn't dive, I'll be going solo on this trip (hopefully I'll find someone to buddy with). Any suggestions on what to bring besides the usual dive vacation stuff?

I take as little as possible and you don't need much anyway. You are usually barefoot all week. Take a book or 2, some DVDs for movies at night maybe. Take a sweatshirt or light jacket - you'll be doing a lot of diving so you may be slightly chilled at night, especially if the AC is cranking at dinner. Lots of bathing suits, some t-shirts. You'll probably end up packing more than you actually use. I always buy some t-shirts or collared shirts from the boat at the end of the trip so I budget that into my clothing items - good for extra clean clothes on the way home

That's a ditto on the bathing suits, take enough so that you have a dry on on when you are not diving. I left a wet one on in between a few dives and started getting chaffed really bad! I had some spray meds along which really helped, that diaper rash is a killer! Also we took sea sick meds along, I didn't need it but there was one night when it got rough and 8 out of 12 divers didn't eat supper. In 7 days we had one rough night and one choppy day other than that it was very calm.
