Second day here on the island and for all my SB friends who encouraged me to make this trip after losing my wife (and dive buddy) this time last year....great advice! I was so hesitant to get back in the water without here. I mean I felt like I did on my first checkout dives way back when.

But we dove Palancar gardens and Cedric and when the ay was over and we were heading back I felt like I had been given permission to be happy again! Getting back in the water was the best grief therapy I've gotten in the past year. And one year ago yesterday, my wife collapsed from a brain hemorrhage and never recovered. For years people who dive have asked me why I do it. I was reminded yesterday. It's good for my soul. Thanks ya'll. I'll post a report next weekend.

I contacted our buddy Dandy Don and we are lining up dinner for Tuesday night. Don...check your pm and leave the dinner plan. May not be able to reply but I will there Tuesday night.

And I have a hunch that Lisa is beaming with pride, just happy for you - as I am.

I got your number: El Cid phone is 52 (987) 8720844. My stupid cell phone was suppose to work here, but only texts to & from US, won't call out. I can call you from my Skype or from my hotel so we can chow down Tuesday.

I'm happy that you decided to get back in the water and continue enjoying what you two enjoyed together for so long. Remember that everytime you dive, you will be able to reconnect with her. It will be your form of therapy, as it is in different ways for many of us.

very happy for you! Glad the happiness is returning to your soul. Enjoy the island......
You have now officially made it thru what I call "year of firsts" without her, and each new day, month, and year will eventually help you to continue on with your purpose.
Thanks for sharing your story. Continued safe bubbles to you with happy memories of Lisa.
PEACE.....

You said in your previous post that you were going to dive with Dive with Martin - is that so? Which DM are you diving with? If Miguel, give him my regards - I've been diving with him in December the last several years, and really like him as a DM - relaxed, easy going, great at spotting the small and unusual. And is Roberto back with DWM?

PS - If Miguel has trouble remembering me (he only sees me once a year), tell him I dive with Ann Faget's group - he's hanging on to my trim leveler (an oval shaped 4 lb. weight that goes on the top of the tank before you hook up the regulator - helps you keep horizontal in the water) for me.

Roberto and Orlando. But if I see Miguel, I'll pass along your regards.

How about 6pm Tuesday at las Otates.

Great to meet you, chat, and enjoy good food at Otates. It was funny when those guys on the street thought we were locals and asked directions. I get mistaken for Hispanic back home frequently. I call myself Mixbreed Texan.
