Wondering what you might think about my plan to do the first dive of the day, the deepest dive (typically over 100ft) on Air, then switch to a Nitrox blend for the rest of the days diving, which would be more shallow profiles. Anyone doing this ?

It all depends. Is your second dive only 3m shallower and after a short SI? Or is it much shallower after a long SI? Are you limited by gas, temperature, boredom or NDL? If you are gas limited on the first dive but NDL on the second then maybe, but you give up the safety advantages of nitrox on the higher risk dive.

To get an answer you need to plan the two ways and see if one way makes a positive difference to your day.

The real answer is to use nitrox on all the dives.

Your goal might be to on-gas as little nitrogen as possible, while still maintaining an acceptable PPO2.
Plan your dives both ways, and see which sequence works out better.

Or, maybe your goal is to maximize bottom time on the first dive.....or total bottom time on all dives. that might give a different result.

So, what is your goal?

Seems to me diving deeper than recommended depth on Nitrox is a no-no...am I correct ? My attempt is to go as deep as possible (130 ft) should I desire, without concerns on Dive #1. Surface intervals between first morning dive is generally 50 minutes or more.

Diving deep on EAN, my computer starts to get nervous around 100 ft. It keeps saying, "UP"...

Ok, a couple of things jump out at me.......are you nitrox certified? Are you experienced/trained for deep diving? Where are you planing these dives? Are these hypothetical dives just to gain some knowledge?

And your diving by computer?

For safety's sake, I won't post until you've answered some questions......

That depends on the mix. You can go to 40m on nitrox so long as you chose the correct mix. However doing a 40m dive (NDL of maybe 8 to 12 minutes) followed by a 50 minute SI is not good practice, especially unplanned. The difference between 33 ish m (MOD of 32%) and 40m is quite serious.

Hmmm, isn't this kind of "first assume the OP is a idiot"?

Sorry to be rude.

Does your computer know you're diving nitrox? If it does, you must be using 40% 02.
