Hoooooleeeee cow I am out of shape!!! lol

I burned through way too much air, had buoyancy problems (I am sure that this was due in part to the new drysuit and new fleece... and the fat deposit on my belly), but I think what killed me was the over-excitement on my part.
I practically jogged from the place that we parked to the dive site - which was maybe 2000 yards of up & down terrain. The worst was the trudge back up to the parking lot afterwards. When you get outta the water, you are walking on tumbled, smooth, round beach rocks - which is like walking on ball bearings on a 30 degree upslope - kinda like walking on a treadmill, but not as nice ;-)

Well, all said and done, I am da*n happy to be back in the water!!

Most of the lessons of life that I read about, are divers not in the best of health. It seems that being a diver, one should exercise 3-4 times a week just to stay in shape when not diving. As we know, diving is a strenuous sport and laying off for any amount of time is inviting problems.
Glad to hear you are happy to get back in the water, but you should take that out of shape condition as a " Wake UP Call "

Take care..............Joe

Joe - I agree completely! I really do need to wake up earlier every morning and go to the gym like my sister do. They've been inviting me for the past year, but I'm really lazy! lol

Snowbear - yes, we do have king crab! I am trying to remember when is the best time of year to go after them. If I remember correctly, it's usually around December. After that, they go really deep, and the only way to get them is with pots. The best place to go after them is in Hoonah Sound, which is about 30 miles north of Sitka.

Here's my nephew with one this summer.
