As I am getting my open water certificate and bought some equipment, i am now looking to get my first computer.
I was looking at 4 of them and the choices are:

Oceanic Veo2
Suunto Vyper (earlier version)
Mares Archimedes 2
Aladin 2g

All of these are similarly priced here in the UK.
Any advice in order to choose one.
Thanks

Any of those computers would be good enough for a recreational OW diver.

If you don't mind my asking, why are you buying this gear before certification?

Most divers in the U.S. rent reg/BCD/tank/weights/wetsuit for OW class.
Many rent for a bit after getting certified. This gives them a chance to see what works, what doesn't work, and the features that they find best/most convenient.

I recommend holding off on making the computer purchase for now. Get certified. Join a dive club. Dive a little with rental gear. Ask local divers what they like to use...and why. Then make your purchase. At that point, it will be a more informed choice.

One reason not to buy expensive scuba gear prior to OW class is the possibility that you won't like diving -- this happens quite often, you know. Another reason is that you may have some sort of medical condition that prevents certification or diminishes enjoyment of the sport. Something to think about...

I take your point and thanks for the advise. Well to be honest I have done a lot of snorkeling on the reef in the bahamas as my daughter lives there and some free diving, so i feel good and comfortable in the water. Infact thinking positevely i am already thinking to go for the advance course.

+1 for the Suunto.

You can't go wrong with them...and they are very popular with divers in the UK.

Of the four, I would go with the Tec 2g--the bottom timer function is very nice and quite popular, which should help it to hold its resale value. You can increase its conservatism if you want to with additional deeper stops.

+1 for Suunto. I can recommend the Zoop, they are cheap, have nitrox and provide you with all your diving information on a large fluorescent display.
