First Boat Dive

Thanks for the help everyone, I feel a lot better that I now know what to expect for the dive! It also helps to know how to prepare my gear and I've gotten it all ready except for the comfort items at the end.

When reboarding, stay off the ladder until the person ahead of you is actually clear. People drop things and fall off ladders and you don't want to be underneath.

Carry the gear onboard in a mesh bag or a soft bag at any rate so you can remove it in the order needed and then stow the bag out of the way.

There's nothing different about diving from a boat vs a shore or pool as far as setup of your gear goes. If it's a rough day you can set the gear up before you leave port, but that's about all I could say about it. Entries are different of course, as is the rolling motions. If you tend to get seasick stay towards the middle of the boat and look out towards the horizon.

Have fun, I think you're trying to make it more complex than it is. Don't sweat it.

Diving from a boat IS different then diving from shore. Asking a question isnt really trying to make it complex. Its just, well, asking. I only recently did my first roll off from a boat. very different then in a pool. Pls dont make ppl afraid to ask questions by making light of those they do ask.

Also... If you see the boat, while you're coming up... Don't approach the boat from underneath... Surface a few feet from the boat.

Most boats, you go the giant stride entry.

Left hand on weight belt (if you have one)

Right hand on your mask and reg.

Don't forget to give the OK signal to the DM or Captain, after you surface from your entry.

Also, give the OK when you surface at the end of the dive.
