I just don't log dives
I am taking a trip with my wife and another couple to Bali at the end of January. We will be staying at a villa on Klunklung beach near Ketewel for two weeks and I am looking for a good dive operator in the area. Three of the four are experienced divers, the fourth will not be diving.

If anyone can recommend a dive operator for me to interview I would greatly appreciate the assistance in narrowing down my options.

I would also like to know what to expect as far as visibility goes during that time of year.

Thank you.

The area that you are staying does not have any diving nearby, you will need to make day trips to the north: Padang Bai and Candidasa which are about 30 mins or so from your location, Amed and Tulamben areas (about 1.5 hours) or a boat over to Nusa Penida (drive to Padang Bai or Sanur and speed boat to Penida, a little more tricky but easily done) I don't think you will want to go to Menjangan area as that is too far from your villa for a day trip. All the operators in Bali would be more than willing to pick you up on the way to one of the mentioned locations as most are located in Sanur, about 30 mins from your location. As there are 3 of you I would suggest a private guide who will take you to where you want to go without having to worry about other divers, 3 people are a great small group booking for a single guide. Weather and visibility wise it can be a mixed bag to be honest, that is the rainy season so you can expect some rain, however, seas can be flat or big! A lot of localized weather comes in play in Bali all year round so sea conditions are difficult to predict, however, with the rainy season the viz is typically lower than say Sept/Oct. But, again it will depend on if there has been heavy rain while you are there. If the rainy season is not that wet then viz can be up to 20 metres (60ft) or more, if there has been lots of rain then typically 10 metres (30 Ft) or less. Very difficult to predict unfortunately...

I dived in Bali in early February ....Tuamben , the Gilis and Lembongan. The weather was great far far better that I feared it might be ....a few daily heavy showers half the time , sunny all of the rest. Perhaps I was just lucky....the vis seemed fine to me and I learned to dive in the Red Sea so am fussy about my viz.

Have a great trip , this is a fantastic destination I am sure you will love.

Thank you both for the advice. We look very forward to our trip. I will be quite a departure form our regular Bonaire dive.

i will be there almost same date i think, but i will directly take boat to nusa lembangan for 5 days diving then heading for tulamban amed for another 5 days diving.

Im so excited for my trip to Bali on Nov 30-7 && Dec 14-21. I been preparing for this trip! Im a new SSI OWD & misted logged 13 dives && hope to dive more before Heading to Bali. I'm taking my AWD w Bali Bubbles while staying in Candidasa && Bali Diving Air Academy while im in Sanur. But, I have no idea which operator i should use while im in Jakarta on Dec 7-14. I'm staying at Hawaii, A Bali Resort && i believe its near Anyer marina/Carita Beach & near Banten area if im not mistaken. Would someone assists me? I'm also a solo diver && hope to dive w a guide or dive master.
