Tragic event for our community. I offer a prayer for those lost, written by Captain Chad Theesfeld:

Alone I Will Not Be

My comfort will come from the sea.
The stillness of calm waves will gently drift by
I will be as one with the sea.

When the sun sets on the ocean blue, remember me as I will always remember you.
As the sun rises…go live life as full as can be
Apart…you and me…but be at peace for I am free.

IIRC, and it's been a few years, The Conception, The Truth, The Vision, The Great Escape (Long Beach),and The Horizon (San Diego) are all basically identical boats with slight variations. There may well be others too....

FYI, after Cpt Tim passed away, the Great Escape became a fishing boat based out of San Diego...it changed its name.
Thanks for that. I heard he had passed just didn't know what happened to the boat. Ironically the boat that rescued the crew was name also named The Grape Escape and listed as a 60ft sport fisher......

Was the entire group from Winters CA area? I used to go flyfishing there when I was a kid but I want to know to make sure no friends from a local dive shop were on that trip.

I've heard that the Vision, Great Escape, and Horizon were all sister ships. Didn't know The Conception and Truth were related too.

I don't believe any reports so far have published a full manifest of the boat. Based on THIS post #32 it *appears* that it was a dive group based in Winters, California that chartered the boat. However, that does not necessarily mean all divers were from Winters (or Sacramento area). It is not at all uncommon for divers to join dive clubs outside their geographical areas, even if for just one trip.
