Are there fins better for photography or are fins just fins? I have read some are better than others just wondering what others thought.

The best fins are the ones that hold you and your camera rocksteady when taking your pics...even in current....lol

No seriously...I believe hvulin is right...its all the same if you know how to use em...

I have had years of sucess with the shorter bladed fins in terms of photography. For years I dove with USD Rockets and about a year and a half ago I switched to Force Fins. Extremely happy with the Force Fins.

I generally use short fins now that I dive a drysuit. But when it comes to swimming with and photographing whalesharks a pair of long fins is the way to go.

I prefer a stiffer blade fin. While you can no doubt use any fin but some are better suited for certain jobs than others. Soft floppy fins just don't do a good job when control is needed.

It really depends on the diving, I use light weight, stiff, full foot, paddle fins when I'm in easy diving tropical waters. I get great control, can back up and they travel easy.

For drysuit diving (high drag) in surf and currents I use the very powerful Apollo Bio Fins (split fins). They offer me alot of thrust to propell me through current with less stress on my leg muscles.

This is what works best for me,
John

I prefer stiffer flat blade type fins. For cold water, I stick with my Jets. For warm water, I have a set of lighter Genesis Aquaflex fins. As long as I can stop quickly and backfin, I am good.

I don't think fins are just fins. I personally go for comfortable foot pockets. I've yet to cramp up with either my Biofins, or my Manta Rays.

I purchased the white Manta Ray fins. Now I have a way to always set my white balance, I just shoot the fins, which is whey they are white. They are also very visible which I like.
