Thanks for the info Submariner. I was looking at the Avantis but ruled them out because I read they were kind of stiff and had a wide foot. But I can get them on Ebay for a great price. If you think they would be a good fin for them maybe that's the way I'll go.

Thanks for the info. I've been reading alot about spring straps. What are they and where can I get them?

Wow BoomEx pretty cool looking. Would almost double what I want to pay for fins though adding those on. Thanks for the info though, it's something to keep in mind. :)

Beth, one thing to keep in mind about the Mares & Dacor products: since they are now a single entity, they share the ABS buckle technology. This is a neat little hinged buckle that really cuts down on the effort needed to get in/out of the fins.

Basically, you open the hinge, put the foot into the fin pocket, then close & tighten the strap to the desired tension. When the time comes to take the fins off, you simply open the hinged buckle, and you have ample room to pull your foot back out of the fin pocket without having to fiddle with the fin strap at the back of the bootie. (This is the same kind of principal they use for bands on Rolex, Tag Heuer, etc. for ease of doff & donning.) Works a treat!

Just thought I'd add this little bit of info,
