I finished all the classroom and pool stuff back in late June. Then I injured my shoulder. The Dr. just gave me the green light yesterday and then to my dismay the LDS said they don't have another scheduled OW dive for two weeks. I was hoping to do a group drift dive and to get some xp, before taking the last AOW class at the begining of Sept.

Is it possible to finish up my class with a private PADI instructor or something? We had such a nice summer up here and I am going insane since it was waisting, while I was healing. Last time I spoke to one of the instructors they said they 1:1 during a previous dive.

Thanks

Yes, presuming your LDS properly filled out the referral pages in your log book as you were completing your class and pool sessions. Any PADI instructor can then go with that. Did your course cost include the OW dives?

More to the point, where is "here"? Helps getting relevant answers if you have your profile filled out as best you can.

RAC in Rochester, NY. The class included OW Dive and gear, they said I do have to buy/rent weights, gloves, and hood.

Well, since you have pre-paid everything, you are kind of stuck unless you can make alternate arrangements.

Yeah, I guess so. Class scheduling can at times be frustrating, especially up here.

The dive shop said they need another OW Diver to sign up for the OW dive. It looks like they have an instructor setup, though I am wondering if they want two OW divers to cover the cost of the instructor. Are there any PADI requirements for having two new divers? If there is not I am thinking of seeing if they will let me do a private lesson, if I buy all my gear from them before the lesson. Normally they supply all, short of the weights, gloves, and hood

I was thinking of that, but since I am planning on getting gear anyway, I am hoping a gurantee sell will intise them. They seemed a little bit more willing to help me when I said I was hoping to go on their Niagra Drift dive the next week. If they are willing to show a bit of loyalty, I am more than happy to return the favor.

No requirement for minimums, but agencies have maximum limits. In our case, it is often up to the instructor if they want to continue and hold a class with one student, if that student signed up for a "group" class.

It looks like I am going to be good. She said it normally costs $50 to get an instructor for private which is cheap, but she said okay for me buying my gear. She said I knew how to work her :)
