Well, it was to say the least an exciting weekend.
Payne ended up not making the quarter finals on account of some great darts by Beaton to polish off the rocket...thus Beaton came out of that group of 3 for the quarters.
Much of the quarters went as expected with Manley, Part, Taylor, and 'the shark' progressing to the semis. The draw for the semis pitted Part and Taylor for an exciting match-up....
The two split the first 10 legs 5-5 then Part started hitting everything. Before Taylor knew it, he was down 10-5....but refused to die. Taylor took 6 of the next 7 legs as Part missed a few doubles....but the lead was insurmountable for the ten-time world champ, and Part took the match 13-11.
The final was Awesome.....Everyone expected Part to show off, and wipe the stage clean shooting against Manley, but Peter "one-dart" Manley had something to say about that.
For the first time in over 3 years, Manley averaged 98+ for the match, and opened the match like a rage filled mad man. After 10 legs, Manley led Part 7-3....And after the short break, Part came out on stage grabbing the first two legs. Manley was not about to let PArt back in though as he checkoed out 120, and 96 like it was routine.
the rest of the match showed some awesome legs....Both opened leg 17 with 180s and 140s....but in the end Manley took home the 22K and the title of the Las Vegas Desert Classic. The Stout man from England has his first major title in 3 years....The last time he was in a final, the Power wiped him clean taking a 7-nil set vistory. After the Match...Manley was joyed in saying " A Major title has been a long time coming" Lots of emotion from One-dart throughout the match was a lot of fun to watch.
