Darts is being televised in the states for the first time I can remember.....

Tomorrow at 1Pm eastern time.....Fox Sports World will be televising the 1st round of eliminations of the Las Vegas Deserrt Classic. Then again at 7, there are the later matches of round 1....the tournament will be covered all weekend, with I think the finals being sometime Sunday evening....I'll double check the schedule b/c I'm a freeking dart addict worse than I am scubaboard freak.

I will soon be jumping over the planetdarts.co.uk website to find out who is playing when and when to be taping to catch some of the darts that 'the power' (Phil Taylor...current consecutive 10-time world matchplay champion for those of you who don't play darts) will be tossing this weekend.

O.K....eagerly awaiting the start of the big tournery

You probably watch Poker on TV too... admit it!!

Isn't there anything better to do in Ohio?

And exactly how do you know it is televised?

As for darts...I just happen to play darts twice a week, and am in the home town of former world champion Larry Butler. I have a terrible addiction as this year, I linked up to the european site and listened to the live radio coverage while the championships were going on.

Congratulations to Tony Payne of Cincinnati OHIO <directed at cornfed> for making it through Eliminator number 2 and being the first american to make through the qualifier to appear on stage against the greats of the darting world in the televised rounds.

Well, a valiant effort was put up this afternoon by the only american to ever make it through the qualifiers...Tony Payne.

He won the cork, and started off in high fashion checking out a 102 in the first leg, but not to be outdone by former world champ Steve Beaton who checked out 96 in the second. The next two legs were stolen by the darter without the throw, but Beaton stole the fifth opening up with and impressive pair of back-2-back 140s

Beaton then extended his lead taking the next 4 legs, and did so with an impressive 60% check-out rate. Payne refused to give in however, and fought back to get the next 2 legs checking out leg 11 with an impressive 108 (t20, 16, d16).

In the end the former world champ proved too much victor taking the 12th leg with a 2-dart 89 finish for a final score of 8-4.

The American Payne will be back in action tonight against Ronnie Baxter.

I threw darts in college and threw a Ton80 on an 501 game my first season. Even got the trophy to prove it. Oh and I hate those plastic tip darts and electronic dart boards, if its not steel and cork it not real darts to me.

its a good thing Wendy chimed in here:D I was beginning to think that big-t was talking to himself

And I would have continued.....there is plenty of beer here for me to talk to myself....I can solo dart....I don't solo dive.

Anyway, I agree with Wendy....that fisher price crap is for my 9 month old.....totally different game that softy stuff.....

Anyway...tonight in action in vegas there will be Peter 'one dart' Manley....Former world #1 Dennis Priestly, and former world champ Roland Scholten....

These guys play the best of 15 legs (games) of 501 alternating who throws first....if the game goes for more than 18 darts, it has taken too long in their minds. These guys average anywhere from 81 points per round (the loser) to 105 points per round (The best in the world 10 times....Phil 'the power' Taylor)

Wendy - anyone who throws a 180 deserves recognition....congrats...if you get a chance and have access to fox sports net or world, I believe action begins at 9pm EST tonight.....www.planetdarts.co.uk has the full schedule of play for this weekend in Vegas time. These guys are the best in the world PERIOD.

Personally I like to put the darts in my mouth lenghtwise and give them a good blowgun burst ( I had a dart board and pool table in my college house, which was frequented by drunks and partyers of all walks of life, so we made it fun sometimes. Pool with a stobe light is quite the challenge as well)....... I have actually gotten a bull's eye doing this on more than one occasion. Anybody else ever tried or seen this? People usually look at me wierd when I do it.
