I just can't keep the secret anymore.
A very small number of you know that my life-partner, Lydia and I have been trying to conceive for over 3 years. We've taken breaks over the years, the most significant were learning scuba, and spending our 20th Anniversary in Tahiti. Thanks to scuba, I've met some really wonderful people on this board, who have been incredibly supportive on many issues both diving-related and beyond. My thanks to all of you.
Over the past year and a half, we tried progressively more aggressive fertility procedures, and finally had success in September. I'm now almost 13 weeks along, and both the baby (yes - only one, despite fertility drugs) and I are doing fabulously! I've had the easiest 1st Trimester anyone could possibly hope for. I hope the next 6 months are as mellow, as I KNOW the following 18 years will be filled with love and challenge!
Some of you have probably wondered why we dropped off the diving arena so soon after being certified, in October 2001. Well, now you know - we were trying to mix two of the most expensive endeavors known to human kind, which happen to be mutually exclusive. As much as we both love diving, we have no qualms about giving it up for a year or so. This is just so much more important. Afterall, we can always take a refresher course!
I've enjoyed participating in SB, and intend to continue to visit often. I almost always learn something interesting! If anyone would like to know more about our fertility process, I'm happy to share. If you are not comfortable posting here, feel free to PM me.
Happy Diving!
(I'll be thinking of you...)
