I just can't keep the secret anymore.

A very small number of you know that my life-partner, Lydia and I have been trying to conceive for over 3 years. We've taken breaks over the years, the most significant were learning scuba, and spending our 20th Anniversary in Tahiti. Thanks to scuba, I've met some really wonderful people on this board, who have been incredibly supportive on many issues both diving-related and beyond. My thanks to all of you.

Over the past year and a half, we tried progressively more aggressive fertility procedures, and finally had success in September. I'm now almost 13 weeks along, and both the baby (yes - only one, despite fertility drugs) and I are doing fabulously! I've had the easiest 1st Trimester anyone could possibly hope for. I hope the next 6 months are as mellow, as I KNOW the following 18 years will be filled with love and challenge!

Some of you have probably wondered why we dropped off the diving arena so soon after being certified, in October 2001. Well, now you know - we were trying to mix two of the most expensive endeavors known to human kind, which happen to be mutually exclusive. As much as we both love diving, we have no qualms about giving it up for a year or so. This is just so much more important. Afterall, we can always take a refresher course!

I've enjoyed participating in SB, and intend to continue to visit often. I almost always learn something interesting! If anyone would like to know more about our fertility process, I'm happy to share. If you are not comfortable posting here, feel free to PM me.

Happy Diving!
(I'll be thinking of you...)

All the best to you. Baby's are special but when you have tried for a long time they are even more so. Congratulations to the both of you and enjoy your new addition and the pregnancy as well. You will remember every movement. :)

Congrats!!! Now...just don't deck the little tyke out in dive gear until after it's born....I mean then you'll know wether or not to buy a pick or blue snorkel!!! :D

Big T - I've already claimed blue, Lyd's fond of purple, and neither of us cares for pink all that much. So I guess Junior will have to settle for yellow, green or DIR-Black! (Now why did I have to go and bring that up...)

DIR-Black! (Now why did I have to go and bring that up...)
I didn't know there was a snorkel color....damn...I need to get that thing out of the bottom of the trunk and paint it.

Congrats

I saw a 60 minutes show that showed how many women think physical fitness is linked to fertility

actually most women begin to lose fertility at age 27 and at age 32 fertility really starts dropping off.

Most women don't realise that by age 35 their ability to concieve is very low no matter how physically fit they are

I'm shocked that more women don't know that

Congratulations to you and Lydia! Hugs and kisses to you both! You'll be wonderful parents.

Let me know when you want that refresher course - in about 18 years...........................

My sister and her partner are proud parents of twins (you got lucky having a single, trust me!). They tried for over two years to concieve. Ironically, the attempt that worked was going to be thier last attempt for a while.

Good luck and best wishes to you, your partner and new baby!
